Dear Ian /Samantha

Following my phone call  conversation last week please see my response to the points you both raised.
Reinstatement----- Our guarantee is two years against defects.

Contribution to road fund----This is still  an option which in under  consideration by optimise.
Storm Drains----- As a sign of good will once all work is completed we will have a road sweeper clean
the road surface and  the drains flushed as well.

I would be very grateful if you could place this information on your web site so the residents are aware
that we have responded to their concerns and thank them all for their continued cooperation while we
complete our works.

Regards

i have just been reading your response to the email sent to you by sam howe.

you have failed to reply to several points

What guarantee is there for the work carried out on the roads to reinstate them? How long will the guarantee
be for and what exactly is being guaranteed?

A contribution was mentioned before for our road fund. Has there been any further progress on that? ie Has
an amount been discussed?

Storm Drains - we are responsible for clearing our own storm drains which we do on a regular basis - we
would like the storm drains flushed through/cleared out when the work on the roads is complete as alot of
debris and concrete has been washed down these drains during the works taking place

please could you reply to these points in a direct and clear way

also in your reply you stated

'As a company we take health & safety very serious so all teams on site were briefed and instructed to make sure sites
are left  in a safe condition at the end of the day. Once again we would like to thank you for your patience while these
essential works are in progress.

please could you explain why this has not happened

Dear Ms Howe

Thank you for your email dated 13th of May. We have noted the issues raised in your email and we are of the opinion
that they can be best  addressed once we have completed our planned works . Please inform members of the residents
association that once work is completed we will walk the site with their representative  and resolve any issues.

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for calling me back, please see below some questions that were raised at our Residents Meeting:

What guarantee is there for the work carried out on the roads to reinstate them? How long will the guarantee
be for and what exactly is being guaranteed?

A contribution was mentioned before for our road fund. Has there been any further progress on that? ie Has
an amount been discussed?

Is it possible to have a representative from Thames Water/Optimise and a resident to do a walk round when
the work has been completed or now if any final work has been done on an area to ensure that both parties
are happy with the works done?

Many residents are concerned with the safety aspects of the works being carried out at present. There are
extremely deep holes that then fill with water and they are only surrounded by orange fencing that often blows
over/or is knocked over - leaving a large hole full of water which is concerning to residents as we have small
children living here. Can anything further be done to make the barriers safer? Sometimes the barriers are
not linked to each other and can simply be walked through. I think we feel that as the holes are so deep and
full of water that better barriers are really required.

Storm Drains - we are responsible for clearing our own storm drains which we do on a regular basis - we
would like the storm drains flushed through/cleared out when the work on the roads is complete as alot of
debris and concrete has been washed down these drains during the works taking place.

Damage to the road opposite No. 10 Springhill Road. Residents at this property have reported that they
witnessed damage being caused to the road when a hole was being dug opposite their property, and
would like reassurance that this damage will be repaired.

Thank you for taking the time to read through the questions, I look forward to hearing from you with regard
to your comments on them.

I have to say that as Chairman of the Residents Association 'Springhill Action Group', I feel as though I
need to look out for the best interests of the residents and roads here. I am concerned having walked round
the roads a few times that an awful lot of damage is being done to our roads. Our roads are not good at the
best of times and the concern of residents is that this is causing major damage to roads and pathways that
just cannot take it. We are worried that our roads and paths will end up looking like patchwork city and are
looking to you for some reassurance that the repair work will be of the highest standard.

Also in places where the barriers are forcing traffic up onto pavements (which are just not built for traffic) that
these too will be repaired and not just the holes that have been dug in the  road. Traffic such as dustcarts and
oil tankers which have to come through have had to go onto pavements causing considerable damage as
you can imagine.

Please feel free to call me on 01296 770537 or 07### ###### to discuss any of these issues further.

Many thanks for your time,

Regards

> Dear Mr. Baggs,
>
> RE SPRINGHILL WATER MAINS REPLACEMENT SCHEME - GRENDON UNDERWOOD
>
> I would like to draw your attention to the plight of Grendon Underwood parishioners residing on
the Springhill Road Estate, Grendon Underwood. The Parish Council has been contacted to enlist
our support in trying to resolve the issues that they have with Thames Water Utilities Ltd who are
currently replacing the water mains.
>
> There are in excess of 100 homes on this particular part of our Parish and some very extremely
unhappy and dissatisfied parishioners as to the damage caused whilst this work is/has been
carried out. It has been brought to our attention that so far there have been in excess of 95 holes
excavated. Bearing in mind, the size of the road and pavements the parishioners feel that it is
excessive and what was once a road and pavement has now been turned into nothing more than
a network of patches, cracks and holes.
Although the parishioners do appreciate that these roads already had wear and tear prior to the
commencement of Thames Water Utilities’ replacement scheme sadly the parishioners are
extremely concerned, upset and aggravated as to the condition of the roads and pavements that
they are being left with.
>
> Grendon Underwood Parish Council has no responsibility to repair these roads as they are privately
owned by our parishioners on Springhill Estate who understandably do not want to be left with a
financial burden due to any damage caused by your company not being resolved. This scheme is due
to be finished within the next 2-3 weeks and therefore our parishioners are extremely concerned that
once your company leaves the estate that they will be forgotten about and the damage will be left
not repaired.
>
> In conclusion, the Parish Council offers their total support with regard to the above and will provide
our Parishioners with any necessary support in order to help them obtain a satisfactory resolution to
this problem.
>
> Yours sincerely
